[ 00 ] // Screen reader support
The sales dialer that talks to your screen reader.
CallCloud reads every step of a call out loud through JAWS or NVDA: who is ringing, who picked up, when you are connected and when the call ends. Every call button has a key, so you never hunt for one mid-call.
We built it for a rep who uses JAWS. He had asked AI for a dialer that works with a screen reader and came back with nothing.
JAWS · NVDA · Alt+Shift keys · No extra cost
CallCloud | Dialing · Screen reader mode
What your screen reader says
JAWS or NVDA, through one call
- 0:00
“Dialing.”
- 0:09
“Picked up: Dana Whitfield, VP of Operations at Northpeak Freight. Connect, Voicemail or Skip.”
- 0:10
You press Alt+Shift+C Connect
- 0:10
“Connected to Dana Whitfield.”
- 3:42
“Call with Dana Whitfield ended. Pick how it went, then Start dialing or Done.”
Ringing lines stay quiet on parallel dialing, so five names never talk over the one who answered.
[ 01 ] // Why dialers are hard with a screen reader
A dialer is built to be watched.
Everything important on a dialing screen happens by changing what you see: a card appears, a status turns green, a timer runs out. A screen reader only knows what it is told.
The screen changes. Nothing is said.
A dialer card flips from ringing to answered without anything a screen reader can catch. You hear a voice and do not know whose it is, or that a Connect button is waiting.
The buttons sit at the bottom
Connect, Voicemail and Hang up live under the notes and the call brief. Tabbing down to them mid-call costs the first seconds of the conversation.
Timers move without you
Dialers connect, skip and hang up on a clock. If nothing tells you the clock ran, the call moved on and you are the last to know.
[ 02 ] // What you hear
Every step, said out loud.
These are the exact words, with the prospect's name, title and company filled in from your list. They are on for every rep, with or without Screen reader mode.
| When | Your screen reader says |
|---|---|
| Dialing starts | “Dialing.” |
| Power Dialer, before anyone answers | “Calling Gregg Kafka, Broker at Kafka Realty.” |
| Someone picks up | “Picked up: Dana Whitfield, VP of Operations at Northpeak Freight. Connect, Voicemail or Skip.” |
| You connect | “Connected to Dana Whitfield.” |
| The 10 second timer connects for you | “Dana Whitfield is on your call screen. The 10 second timer stopped your other lines. Not a person? Voicemail or Skip.” |
| A prospect calls you back | “Dana Whitfield, VP of Operations at Northpeak Freight is calling you back. Answer or Send to voicemail.” |
| The call ends | “Call with Dana Whitfield ended. Pick how it went, then Start dialing or Done.” |
On parallel dialing the ringing lines stay quiet until someone answers, so five names never talk over the one who picked up.
[ 03 ] // Every button has a key
Alt+Shift, then one letter.
Each key presses the real button on screen, so it follows the same rules a click does. Press a key that does not fit the moment and you hear that it is not available right now.
- Alt+Shift+CConnect the person who picked up
- Alt+Shift+VVoicemail
- Alt+Shift+SSkip, not a person
- Alt+Shift+HHang up and keep dialing
- Alt+Shift+EHang up and stop, to finish your notes
- Alt+Shift+DStart dialing or Resume
- Alt+Shift+AAnswer a prospect calling you back
- Alt+Shift+NGo to the call notes
- Alt+Shift+RRepeat who is on the line
Single letters belong to your screen reader, so we never take them.
[ 04 ] // A call screen you can move around
You land on the person, not the page.
Focus follows the call
When a call lands, focus moves to the prospect's name, so the next thing you read is who they are. When the wrap-up opens, focus moves to it. It never pulls you out of a box you are typing in.
Every part is a heading
The prospect, the call brief, the notes and the call result are headings, so your screen reader's heading key jumps straight to the part you want.
Labelled, and quiet where it should be
Notes boxes, outcome lists and dialogs have names. Decorative icons and emoji stay silent, so you hear the call, not the decoration.
[ 05 ] // Turn it on
One switch, per rep.
01
Open Settings, then My setup
Sign in at dialer.callcloud.app, open Settings and choose the My setup tab.
02
Turn on Screen reader mode
Set it to On. It is saved on that browser, and the keys are listed right under the switch.
03
Open a campaign and dial
Start dialing. Your screen reader tells you who is calling, who picked up and when it ends.
The spoken updates need no switch. The mode adds the keys and the focus moves.
[ 06 ] // FAQ
Questions, answered.
Is there a sales dialer that works with a screen reader?
Yes. CallCloud reads every step of a call out loud through your screen reader: who is ringing, who picked up, when you are connected, when a timer acts and when the call ends. Screen reader mode adds an Alt+Shift key for every call button and moves focus to the prospect's name when a call lands.
Which screen readers does it work with?
It is built for JAWS and NVDA in Chrome or Edge. It uses the standard web accessibility features screen readers rely on: live announcements, headings and labelled controls, so there is nothing extra to install.
Does it work with parallel dialing?
Yes. While several lines ring, the dialer stays quiet, so five names never talk over the one who answers. The moment someone picks up you hear who it is and what to press. Dialing one line at a time, you also hear who is being called before they answer.
Why Alt+Shift and not single keys?
JAWS and NVDA use single letters to move around a page, like H for the next heading and B for the next button. Plain Alt plus a letter opens browser menus. Alt+Shift plus a letter is free in both, so the keys work without switching modes.
Will it change anything for the rest of my team?
No. The spoken updates are invisible on screen, and the keys and focus moves only switch on for a rep who turns on Screen reader mode. Everyone else sees the same dialer they use today.
Does it cost extra?
No. Screen reader support comes with the Parallel Dialer and the Power Dialer at no extra cost.
Does the Chrome Extension have it?
No. Screen reader support is in the CallCloud dialer you open at dialer.callcloud.app, on both the Parallel Dialer and the Power Dialer.
Something is not read out. What do I do?
Tell us through Text the founder on this page, or book a call. This feature exists because one rep who uses JAWS asked for it, and we would rather hear what is missing than guess.
[ 07 ] // Start dialing
Hear every call. Miss none of them.
Sign up in your browser, turn on Screen reader mode under Settings, My setup, and start dialing.
